SKODA PEAQ launched globally: More premium & modern but still practical "Skoda Style"

At the global launch event on June 23, 2026 in Switzerland, the auto brand with a history of more than 130 years from the Czech Republic officially launched a 7-seat pure electric SUV called Skoda Peaq. Developed based on the philosophy of the Vision 7S concept version, Peaq is currently the largest, most expensive model and serves as the flagship model that shapes the entire future electric vehicle era of the brand. In a context where the auto industry is caught up in an arms race for shiny, flashy technology that is somewhat disconnected from reality, All New Skoda Peaq chooses a completely different direction. The car became a reference model, proving to the world that Skoda is still steadfast in making products true to its core DNA: Simple, practical, smart & sophisticated, while creating a smooth transition while retaining the basic values that have been so successful on current gasoline cars.

Appearance

The Skoda Peaq has the imposing size of a large SUV with an overall length of 4,874 mm and a wheelbase of approximately 2,965 mm (116 mm longer than the gasoline-powered Kodiaq). The car is built on the Volkswagen Group's MEB+ chassis platform, providing a majestic, sturdy appearance.

The most obvious highlight is the closed steering wheel called Tech Deck Face in glossy black. Instead of the traditional radiator grille, this area is streamlined, integrating and hiding the radar sensors and cameras of the driving assistance system. The characteristic "T" shaped headlight cluster uses 18-segment LED Matrix technology, combined with a front bumper with sinewy Volcano line lines.

Viewed from the side, the car stands out with its imposing high shoulder line, emphasized by the wide D-pillar bearing the words SKODA. The rear of the car recreates the design spirit of the front of the car with slim, sharp T-shaped LED taillights.

Despite its large size, Peaq still achieves an impressive wind resistance coefficient of only 0.249. This achievement comes from the combination of active air vents behind the front bumper, flat underbody, streamlined rearview mirrors and especially the electric hidden flat door handle system appearing for the first time in Skoda's history. On the windshield of the passenger seat, Skoda cleverly placed the image of three cyclists to remind of its origin from the Slavia bicycle factory in the last century. In addition, the car's wipers also have built-in water nozzles on the body, helping to optimize cleaning and save 50% of glass washing water.

Interior

If the exterior brings the solidity of a new era, the lounge-style cabin of the All New Skoda Peaq is where the Simply Clever philosophy is preserved to the extreme. Skoda does not try to turn this electric car into an unfamiliar technology toy, but keeps it as close and practical as the company's familiar gasoline motorbikes.

The feeling of sitting on the Skoda Peaq's chair is very stable and hugs the body naturally, very similar to the current product range, which I always appreciate. This seat form is not much different from the company's current gasoline car product range (even small SUVs like the Kushaq also have this body-hugging seat design). These are sporty seats that provide maximum body support to help passengers avoid fatigue on long journeys.

Whether in 5-seat or 7-seat configuration, Skoda offers the premium upgrade package Relax Package (appearing even on the Sportline version). This package is equipped with ergonomically-adjustable front seats certified by the German spine medical organization AGR, integrated ventilation, deep massage and large, long electric calf support.

Peaq's entertainment center is a large 13.6-inch vertical touch screen on the Android platform - a design that first appeared on Skoda cars, allowing customization of the grid interface and support for third-party applications such as Spotify or YouTube. Behind the steering wheel is an AR HUD information display screen that integrates augmented virtual reality technology. As part of the Relax Package, Skoda also offers a "living room on wheels" experience thanks to a 16-speaker, 755W Sonos premium sound system specifically tuned for the Peaq's cabin. The system uses a new generation A2B booster amplifier and a dual 200 W subwoofer cluster placed in an 18-liter speaker box for deep, compact and powerful bass.

In particular, the car has the company's largest panoramic glass roof (more than 2.1 square meters) integrated with Dynamic Shade Control technology. This electric glass roof has the ability to change transparency and light transmission level through voltage, divided into 9 independent control segments via screen or touch panel on the ceiling. The Qi2 wireless charging system for two phones is also equipped with a capacity of 25W, integrated with an active cooling radiator and magnetic magnets to help fix the device's position. In addition, the MySkoda application provides exclusive features such as Camp Mode (maintains ventilation, cabin temperature and fresh air source throughout the night when sleeping in the car) and Digital Key to start the car via smartphone.

Battery and Charging Technology

Developed on the MEB+ platform, Skoda Peaq offers users 3 effective engine configuration options, using NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) batteries produced right in Mlada Boleslav:

All versions use permanent magnet synchronous electric motors on the rear axle to optimize performance. MacPherson front suspension system combined with 5-link rear suspension. Thanks to the One-Pedal Drive mode, the braking energy recovery mechanism takes care of up to 95% of the braking needs in daily travel conditions. Peaq's charging system supports DC fast charging currents up to 199 kW. Notably, the Bidirectional Charging feature not only stops at V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) generating electricity for outdoor camping equipment, but also supports V2H (Vehicle-to-Home) supplying electricity to the house and V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) returning electricity to the grid through a dedicated wallbox. To optimize operating range in the cold season, the vehicle has a new generation heat pump option.

Review

When learning about Skoda up to now, anyone can recognize the most outstanding feedback from global users for this car company: Durability, low "maintenance" cost and high practicality in design. And when looking at Peaq - the newest, best electric car and their current technology icon, those philosophies are not on press releases or slogans. It exists right in every touch experience, every small storage compartment to the familiar button layout like a gasoline car. Skoda clearly understands what its customers like, they know that in the current European market, a 7-seat electric car with a suitable size but not too bulky is becoming the most attractive segment.

The All New Skoda Peaq is not an electric car that shows off its technology. That is a strong affirmation of the brand's reference value: Even though technology changes and transmission methods evolve, the best car must still be the one that maintains its DNA to serve people in the most practical and durable way.
