Sony IER-M500: In-ear Monitor headphones for musicians and performers, priced at $119

Sony launches the IER-M500, a wired monitoring headset aimed at musicians and performing artists. The device focuses on passive sound insulation and precise sound reproduction to meet the strict standards in stage environments.

Sony IER-M500 uses a 5mm diameter Dynamic speaker, providing a frequency response range from 10 Hz to 40 kHz. This configuration has been fine-tuned by engineers towards a realistic and balanced sound, supporting the extraction of instrument details to directly serve sound monitoring.

With an impedance of 16 Ohms and sensitivity of 103 dB/mW, the headphones do not require a high-power source. Users can connect the headphones directly to on-stage belt-mounted receivers, smartphones or personal music players while still ensuring standard volume and detail levels.

The shell of the IER-M500 is made from transparent plastic, allowing the internal component structure to be observed. The product is distributed with three color options: White, Black and the combined Blue - Red version. In the color scheme option, the left ear is specified in blue and the right ear in red, helping artists quickly identify the device's direction in a low-light environment backstage.

Included with the device is a 1.6m long cable using a standard 3.5mm plug. The mechanical plus is that the cable has a detachable design, allowing users to easily replace it in case the cable is damaged or when there is a need to use other types of custom conductors.

Sony IER-M500 is expected to start shipping from August 21, 2026 with a retail price of about 3.2 million VND. The standard product box comes with 4 pairs of ear cushions of various sizes, 5 pairs of ear hooks and a protective zippered case.
