Apple's AirPods headphones with integrated cameras were leaked in video for the first time

(Dan Tri) - Information about Apple integrating cameras into the new generation AirPods wireless headphones has long appeared as a rumor. The first video about the product was recently leaked.
Apple has just released the final test version of the macOS Tahoe 26.7 operating system on August 17.

While testing the macOS Tahoe 26.7 operating system on their computer, reporters from the technology site MacRumors discovered a video file in the library of this test version that seemed to mention Apple's new generation AirPods wireless headphones.
The short video shows the man holding a book and wearing AirPods headphones.
The voiceover in the video explains that the Visual Intelligence feature integrated into the product will help the user's surroundings become "saveable", suggesting that virtual assistant Siri can identify what the AirPods wearer is looking at and save relevant information for use when needed.
This shows that the AirPods headset will have a built-in camera to record the surrounding environment, and the Visual Intelligence artificial intelligence feature will identify objects and objects to give appropriate answers to the user when requested.
The camera on AirPods will act as "eyes" for the AI feature built into the headset, not used for filming or photography purposes.
For example, the wearer can point the camera at the ingredients on the table so that Siri can suggest suitable dishes and give instructions on how to prepare them. This way of working is similar to when users upload photos to AI tools such as OpenAI ChatGPT or Gemini to request analysis of image content.
Previously in May, technology reporter Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, citing close sources, said Apple is developing an AirPods wireless headset model with an integrated camera. According to sources, the product has entered the final testing phase to prepare for mass production before commercialization.
Sources say the new AirPods headphones will have a design similar to AirPods Pro 3, but the body is lengthened to integrate the camera.

There is currently no specific information about when Apple will launch the AirPods model with a built-in camera. Most likely, users will have to wait until early next year to access the product.
If Apple really launches AirPods with a built-in camera, this product is considered to be between the wireless headset and smart glasses product segments. The advantage of the product is its compact design, so you can carry it with you for a long time to ask AI for support when needed.
In addition to AirPods with integrated cameras, experts say Apple is also developing two different smart glasses models. A version that only integrates a camera and speaker on the frame, expected to launch in 2027; while the more advanced model will be equipped with a small screen on the lens to display information and may appear in 2028.
