Visit Hon Son, a small and beautiful island just enough for a delicious and beautiful 2 day 1 night trip

Last weekend, I joined a group of young people from the West to travel for 2 days to Hon Son, in Lai Son commune, Kien Giang province, a small island about 1 hour by boat from Rach Gia high-speed boat station, and it took about more than half an hour to ride a motorbike around the island according to Google maps.

And with 2 days and 1 night here, we have a pretty full schedule of beach activities.
Our trip schedule is as follows:

Sights I visited
In Hon Son, we see that the tourist attractions are owned and managed by residents, so they usually only charge water fees when visitors enter, not entrance tickets. I think that's okay, you can both visit and have delicious water to drink. Some stops along the way like Ong Rua Stone, the wharf, and Ong Lang don't have to cost money, just stop by.
This is a tourist attraction, and also where I live, so there is no entrance fee. Hon Son rocky beach has many large rocks connecting the mainland and the deep sea, creating natural straits that block waves, so the sea surface is very smooth, and the water is very clear. Swimming here is like swimming in a lake, very enjoyable.

This is a small clear water beach separated between rows of natural rocks on the rocky beach. The water is clear and calm, making it easy to swim.

2. Turtle Rock: On the coastal road, there is a large stone shaped very much like a sea turtle rising out of the water. People painted it to make it easier to visualize, so people call this turtle stone.

The road to Ong Rua rock is a steep road and the view is quite beautiful, so many people come here to check in.

Looking from this direction, the stone does not look like a turtle, but just like normal stones, but the view of this section is very beautiful. There is a steep road surrounded by coconut trees, as well as the sea and beautiful natural cliffs. 3. Bai Bang Bai Bang is an area with jasmine sand and the largest beach on Hon Son island. There are many small hotels located along the beach and many marine activities for everyone to come and enjoy swimming.

4. Twitterep beach

There are a lot of trees that lean a lot, maybe it's because people swing them too much and they lie down or something, but strangely, the leaves and fruit always grow upright, only the trunk is lying flat. This beach is only for sightseeing, but there are a lot of rocks, more than Stone Beach, so it is not convenient for swimming. 5. Cafe Flyup This is also a private resort, with accommodation and many beautiful views, but no beach, so we just stopped by the Café and took pictures to check in.

The view here is beautiful, but it's only for viewing, not bathing.

There are a lot of flowers planted in the resort. I thought the pink paper flowers were so beautiful, so I took a photo.

The whole group was initially afraid of the rain, but the raft house staff jumped in first, so the whole group followed, so there was a happy soup rowing party.

In this area, there are many moored rafts for visitors to enjoy the beach. The rafts are beautifully decorated, so visitors can take pictures to check in.

Naka sea has a very cute and polite raft owner and staff, the package cost is 150k for 1 person including boat transfer, rowing soup, swimming goggles, life jacket, raft staff set up to take photos for you, and a nice drink. 7. Hon Son night market, Bai Nha wharf

This wharf area is a high-speed wharf during the day, and is also the center of the island. In the evening, there is a night market, restaurants, and souvenir shops. Walking around the market in the evening, the cool air is very pleasant.

Souvenirs made from sea snails are very beautiful.

8. North beach wharf: this area has many fishing boats anchored, this wharf is also the connection to the road across Hon Son island.

9. Ong Nam Hai Mausoleum: A place of spiritual worship for islanders, and also a place for annual festivals of fishermen here.

I read information on some tourist sites that sea people believe that Mr. Whale is a gentle mascot who always protects fishermen from the dangers of waves and waves at sea, so people built a mausoleum to worship him.

I saw a statue of a horse lying on a rock in the direction of his mausoleum overlooking the sea. It looks beautiful, probably for decoration or as a sign, but I don't quite understand the meaning.
Delicious dishes on the island

Vehicles

If you take the night bus and arrive at the station too early and still far from the train departure time, the PT driver will stop you at Café Vong right at the pier. There are hammocks here for you to rest for free and you only have to buy water for about 15k/person to lie down and rest until the morning.
Accommodation
Hon Son rock beach motel: hotline number 0934336565

This place is because Western friends have stayed and booked it for me, but lately I've seen many people using pictures online to create fake hotel accounts and run ads to receive unofficial bookings, so I don't dare to book online. I leave the owner's phone number above so that if anyone needs it, they can contact the motel directly to book.

I find this place clean, the room is very good for the price range, breakfast is included in the room price with options of seafood noodles, fried bread, and seafood noodles, all very fresh and delicious.

This room has a garden view, priced at 800k/night including breakfast for 2 adults. Although it is small, it is clean and tidy and has a great view.

The beach here is very clean, has large rocks but still has jasmine sand and calm sea, you can swim, the service is also very good, you can buy food from outside, the motel will serve bowls, dishes, glasses of ice, and clean up, with a very reasonable surcharge.

The sunset here is super beautiful in the afternoon, the color of the sky and water are all very sparkling. Bai Da Hon Son Guesthouse is usually full and they do not advertise or post on booking sites. Hon Son has many beaches, but they are mainly for taking pictures and sightseeing, not bathing because the water is deep or there are many rocks. Although this rocky beach is listed as rocky, you can swim and is very clean and beautiful.
Trip costs

If calculated from Rach Gia, each person costs about more than 1.6 million for this trip. For me, it costs an additional 2-way Phuong Trang bus ticket from SG (an additional 460k) for a total of 2.1 million. I find it too good, to enjoy the beautiful view, clean beach and delicious food for 2 weekends is too satisfying. Summer is here, if you have the opportunity, you can try to experience Hon Son. Wishing you a happy summer trip!
