Threads removed infringing content at Vietnam's request

At the preliminary conference on the field of electronic information, on the afternoon of June 24, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen, Deputy Director of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, said that in the first 6 months of the year, the response rate of cross-border platforms to block and remove illegal content in Vietnam reached over 94%.
Meta, with social networks Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Threads, blocked 63 accounts, pages and groups, an increase of 1.5 times over the same period in 2025, and processed 2,147 content.
"This is also the first year Meta has met the request to handle 17 infringing content on Threads," said Ms. Huyen.

Threads is a social network developed by Meta, launched in July 2023 and currently has more than half a billion users, aimed at sharing articles and short, public discussions. "In Vietnam, the platform grows well when it creates conditions for users to share stories that are both funny and true, sometimes creating very interesting debates," Director of Meta Vietnam said last year.
Meanwhile, TikTok has blocked and removed 440 accounts, 10 audio files related to about 115,000 videos and 275 other content in the first 6 months of the year. The platform also shortens the processing time of requests from regulators, from 24-48 hours to 3-12 hours.
YouTube also blocked 18 channels, containing nearly 13,000 videos with 165 million views, processing 545 pieces of content, an increase of more than two times over the same period in 2025.
The Vietnam Twitter Center for Handling Fake News and Harmful Information (VAFC) said it has received 1,287 complaints from people since the beginning of the year until now. Of these, there were 850 reports of bad information, 145 fake news, 58 reports of financial fraud... According to Ms. Huyen, all have been resolved or transferred for handling according to regulations.
Also during this time, authorities revoked 65 licenses to establish social networks of 61 violating organizations and businesses. The Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information also suspended the provision of social networking services for two businesses; revoked 4 licenses to establish social networks and 3 certifications of 5 organizations and businesses due to termination of operations.
