Threads opens a feature to monitor young users in Vietnam

The new feature, built into the "Family Hub" section of Threads, allows parents and guardians to monitor how their children use the app and set some limits.
Parents can see how much time their child uses Threads each day for the last seven days, set time limits or block access on certain days and time frames. If your child uses Threads on multiple devices, the limit is based on the total time spent.
The tool also allows parents to limit children's access to Threads at night. By default, notifications are turned off and automatic replies are turned on between 10pm and 7am.
Additionally, parents can manage some privacy and content settings, such as controlling who can tag their children in posts. For people under 16 years old, parents can decide whether their children can change the protection settings to less stringent ones.

Meta said the implementation of the new tools makes the parental monitoring experience on Threads more consistent with its other apps. This move follows Meta's updates for youth accounts in Vietnam.
In May, the company rolled out an improved version for teen accounts on Instagram, Facebook and Messenger, increasing content control based on movie classification criteria for people 13 and older and parental feedback.
According to Meta, these measures limit teens from seeing posts with inflammatory language, risky challenges, or content that may promote potentially risky behavior, including from posts on accounts they follow.
Threads social network launched in July 2023, focusing on short, public sharing and discussions. After three years of launch, the platform now has more than 500 million monthly users globally. In Vietnam, Mr. Khoi Le, Country Director of Meta Vietnam, said Threads is "growing fast" and increasingly popular among young people.
