Editor's Tip:
Joyoung JNRC-40N6 Ultra is suitable for families who need to use a large capacity rice cooker, want to experience high-frequency technology, many cooking programs and are willing to spend more for these utilities.
On the contrary, for users who mainly need to cook rice, keep warm and set a timer, a lower priced electronic rice cooker model may meet most needs. The investment is about 5 million VND so it needs to be considered based on frequency of use and truly necessary features.
In the Vietnamese household appliance market, rice cookers are mainly divided into 2 types based on 2 main heating mechanisms. The image below shows the different design between the two types of rice cookers, in which the left uses a heat transfer plate and the right uses magnetic induction technology.

Popular product lines, including mechanical rice cookers and electronic rice cookers, often use a heating tray to cook rice grains. Electric current flows through the resistance wire inside the heating plate, heating this part and then transferring heat through the bottom of the pot.
Meanwhile, high-frequency rice cookers (Induction Heating - IH) use magnetic induction technology to create heat. This mechanism is similar to the operating principle of an induction cooker.
Unlike a conventional pot that receives heat mainly from the heating plate below, a high-frequency pot uses coils placed inside the machine body to create a fluctuating magnetic field. When the inner pot of suitable material is placed in a magnetic field, the induced electric current generates heat right in the inner pot.
Joyoung JNRC-40N6 Ultra is a rice cooker model that uses this technology. In theory, controlling the heat source directly on the pot helps manufacturers be more proactive in adjusting the temperature at each stage of cooking.
The biggest advantage of high-frequency technology lies in its ability to radiate heat evenly from the bottom to the pot walls. Combined with precise temperature control programs for each stage of soaking, cooking and keeping warm, rice grains are thoroughly cooked from the inside.

During the experiment, rice cooked with JNRC-40N6 Ultra produced relatively even and loose grains. However, the difference from a conventional electronic rice cooker is not necessarily the same for every type of rice, water ratio or cooking method. Therefore, high-frequency technology should not be considered an automatic factor that makes rice tastier in all cases.
With a more complex structure, high-frequency rice cookers often cost more than popular mechanical or electronic rice cooker models. In Vietnam, popular rice cooker models cost from a few hundred thousand VND to less than 2 million VND, while high-frequency rice cookers are usually around 4-6 million VND. Some models that incorporate additional pressure technology cost more.
This also means buyers are paying more not only for rice quality but also for heating technology, sensors and automatic cooking programs.
Joyoung JNRC-40N6 Ultra has a quite modern design, similar to some rice cooker models in the high-end segment. The shiny exterior makes it easy to spot stains, but also means users may have to clean it regularly to maintain its appearance.
The pot weighs about 5kg. This weight creates a solid feeling when placed on the kitchen counter without being too heavy when needed to move.

To maintain a minimalist design, the manufacturer removed the handle. This is a point that can cause inconvenience if users often need to move the pot from the stove to the dining table or another location.
The top is a touch control panel with an integrated display screen. Icons and letters are arranged intuitively, helping to select cooking programs by touch.
Parts in contact with food such as the steaming basket and the inside of the pot lid are made of 304 stainless steel. The inner lid can be removed to clean the film of grease or steam after each cooking session.
The inner pot is introduced as made from 316L stainless steel combined with 99.9% pure Titanium. According to the product design, the inner pot does not use a chemical non-stick coating.
This is a notable difference compared to many pot models that use non-stick coating. However, the absence of a coating does not mean that the rice will completely not stick to the pot under all conditions. The level of adhesion also depends on the type of rice, amount of water, time kept warm and cleaning method.
According to the manufacturer, the surface of the pot is treated with micro-water film technology with 200,000 micro-dots with a square design. The device also integrates smart sensors to control temperature during the cooking process, ensuring accurate control of rice grain quality.
After the cooking process, the system will activate the cooling fan to suck cold air from outside and blow it onto the outer wall of the pot, helping the pot cool down quickly.

Thanks to the convection of the hot and cold temperature difference, a microscopic water film of uniform thickness will form between the rice grain and the inner pot wall, thereby reducing the adhesion force of the rice to the inner pot wall.
After completing the cycle, the system activates the cooling fan to cool down the inner pot. According to the product's design, this mechanism contributes to controlling the temperature after cooking and limiting the phenomenon of condensation.
In practical experience, rice cooked with JNRC-40N6 Ultra produces relatively even and loose grains when using the same amount of rice and water. Compared to a conventional electronic rice cooker model used for comparison, the rice on the sides of the pot was less dry and hard.
However, this is a result under a specific test condition and should not be generalized to an absolute advantage for all types of rice and all uses.
Water stagnation on the pot lid also rarely appeared during the experience. However, the actual amount of steam still depends on the type of food, amount of water and cooking program.
Joyoung JNRC-40N6 Ultra has a capacity of 1,350W and a pot capacity of 4L, of which the rice cooking capacity is 1.5L. According to this parameter, the device is aimed at families who need to cook a relatively large amount of rice.
The cooking capacity is similar to the Panasonic SR-HN151KRA, while the Cuckoo CRP-HWF1000F has a cooking capacity of 1.8L.
The device supports 8 cooking modes, displayed on the touch screen. Illustrative icons help users select programs without having to set many parameters manually.

Besides cooking rice, the device supports functions such as porridge cooking, steaming and reheating. Programs have pre-installed cycles and time, users can choose the appropriate mode instead of having to manually adjust many steps.
One of the notable features is the "Reduced Sugar Rice" mode, announced by the manufacturer to be able to reduce the reducing sugar content in rice by up to 52.45%.
However, it is necessary to distinguish between the “reducing sugar” index measured under a test condition and the total amount of carbohydrates or energy absorbed by the body from a serving of rice. Therefore, the above figure should not be understood to mean that rice cooked using this mode can correspondingly reduce the sugar or energy content of the meal.
Users who are controlling their blood sugar or carbohydrate intake should not consider this feature a substitute for professional food selection and portion control.
The device also allows both cooking rice and steaming food using the included 304 stainless steel basket. This is a convenience that can help reduce the amount of equipment needed when preparing meals, but the actual value depends on each family's cooking habits.
JNRC-40N6 Ultra supports up to 24-hour timer. After completing the cycle, the pot automatically switches to keep warm mode.
This feature is useful for people who have a fixed schedule or want to prepare ingredients in advance. However, keeping it warm for a long time can still affect the quality of the rice, so this should not be considered a solution to maintain freshly cooked rice for an unlimited period of time.
In terms of automation capabilities, the JNRC-40N6 Ultra has a temperature control sensor, multiple cooking programs, timer and the ability to automatically switch to keep warm. These factors help reduce the number of operations the user must perform during the cooking process.
However, the "smart" level of the product mainly lies in its ability to automate the cooking cycle. The device does not support connection to the phone application, so users cannot control or monitor the cooking process remotely.
Therefore, if "smart" is understood in the broad sense of connected home appliances, the JNRC-40N6 Ultra is still more of a highly automated rice cooker than a connected smart home appliance.
This is also a point users should consider when choosing a product, because not all automatic features bring value equivalent to the investment cost.
In the same price segment of about 5 million VND, the device competes with some competitors such as Panasonic SR-HN151KRA or Cuckoo CRP-HWF1000F.

The product differentiates itself with IH technology, non-stick coating, multiple cooking programs and sensor system.
Therefore, the value of JNRC-40N6 Ultra depends a lot on usage. People who regularly cook a variety of foods, are interested in high-frequency technology, want to use non-stick pots and have a budget of about 5 million VND will have more reasons to consider the product.
On the contrary, for people living alone, students or families who only need a simple rice cooking appliance, the cost difference compared to a common rice cooker may be difficult to create a commensurate difference in daily experience.
Overall, the notable points of Joyoung JNRC-40N6 Ultra lie in its high-frequency heating technology, finishing quality and number of cooking programs. However, these advantages need to be considered along with the relatively high price and actual usage needs before deciding to buy.
