Experience Super Hi-Kool Beyond Ceramic window film: Good choice in price range

Ceramic insulation film is currently the film line chosen by the majority of consumers in Vietnam thanks to its durability and outstanding infrared ray blocking effectiveness. However, the inherent disadvantage of ceramic material is its ability to accumulate high heat on the surface. When the car moves for a long time in the sun, the glass accidentally becomes a source of heat, emitting heat that makes the two people sitting in the front row feel stuffy and uncomfortable. To solve this difficult problem, each brand develops its own core technologies. I myself just had the opportunity to experience the Super Hi-Kool Beyond Ceramic film line and found that their technology is quite well optimized: clearly reducing the phenomenon of heat accumulation on the glass, while the overall heat resistance still maintains good performance.
Theory & Measurement


This is the parameter table of the types of films available on the Volkswagen Golf R model that I experienced. Measurement parameters from the lab or from the manufacturer in general will partly reflect the level of effectiveness in actual use.

Through actual measurements with the Linshang LS122 handheld meter (wavelength range 1,000nm - 1,700nm), the film applied to the windshield (the location with the highest light penetration and most susceptible to heat) has the ability to eliminate up to 95% of infrared rays (IR index), close to the 96% figure announced by the manufacturer. I performed this experiment at 1:00 a.m. in May 2026, when the outdoor temperature was about 35 degrees Celsius and the actual perceived temperature was about 38 degrees Celsius. To make it easy to imagine, this is a very high index, equivalent to many high-end film lines on the market today.

Regarding UV rays, the main cause of skin darkening and aging of interior details, the theoretical parameter of the film is 99%. However, when actually measuring on a Volkswagen Golf R MK8 under intense sunlight, my handheld meter suddenly reported UV ray blocking results of up to 100%, exceeding the level announced by the company.

It is important to know that this result is partly influenced by handheld measuring equipment (which cannot be absolutely accurate like in a lab) and the intensity of heat radiation at the time of measurement. Another important factor is that many new models or luxury cars today have been pre-coated by the manufacturer with an anti-UV layer on the original glass. Therefore, it is entirely possible for the machine to report a 100% removal result (with this Golf R, I have not yet determined for sure whether the original glass structure has this coating or not). However, the measurement indicators of high-end films will usually not differ significantly. In actual use over time, each new line of heat-insulating films exhibits different characteristics that technical specifications cannot fully reflect. Personally, I temporarily divide the market into two types of heat-insulating films based on composition, which are metallic films and non-metallic films (typically Ceramic here).

Because of its outstanding durability, most insulation film companies today focus on researching and producing ceramic films. However, the phenomenon of heat accumulation on the glass surface is still a big problem that pushes brands to develop new technologies to minimize the amount of heat retained, or help the film cool down faster in real operating conditions.
Experience the actual "hotness" of the film

Besides the IR blocking index of 95% - 96% mentioned above, a more comprehensive and important parameter to pay attention to is "Total Solar Energy Eliminated (TSER)". This index reflects the overall amount of heat from all three agents: UV rays, visible light and infrared rays blocked outside the vehicle. With the Super Hi-Kool Beyond Ceramic windshield film code - BY 50, the TSER index is 57%, meaning that 57% of the total heat-causing energy is completely eliminated and only 43% of the energy passes through the glass to the inside. However, the special feature that must be experienced to realize is Nano Embedded Technology, which helps the film both deeply block heat and have the ability to dissipate heat extremely effectively. Experiment when I leave the car exposed to the sun from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm (3 hours continuously), when entering the car, the system takes about 10 minutes for the cabin to start to cool deeply. With the air conditioning set at 22.5°C on the Volkswagen Golf R, after 15 minutes, the fan automatically reduces to a quiet level. At this time, I brought my hand close to the film on the front glass to check the phenomenon of heat accumulation. Within a distance of 10cm (about a fist), the heat radiating from the glass is almost not felt, only slightly warm if you hold your hand for a long time. When I was about an arm's length (20cm) away, I completely stopped feeling the heat. And of course, with a distance of 40-50cm to the driver's position, it is completely comfortable. In addition, I deliberately moved the car against the sun from around 2:00 p.m. to record. After 30 minutes of continuous travel, the outside heat does not affect the car cabin space at all, I just need to maintain the air conditioner at 23.5°C - 24°C to be cool enough. From there, it can be temporarily concluded that the Super Hi-Kool Beyond Ceramic - BY 50 film has very good heat dissipation ability, the heat accumulation phenomenon on the glass is controlled at a low level and is not enough to heat the sitting position.
Other points I appreciate
Film clarity

Although the technical specifications on paper may be the same, each film line will provide very different transparency and real-life visibility. With the configuration of side glass code BY 30 and steering glass code BY 50, this film package is enough to bring me satisfaction. When moving the car at night, I can still easily observe details of the space ahead and surrounding vehicles through the rearview mirror.

With "dark" movies, driving for a long time will cause eye strain, and the car lights will also feel significantly reduced in brightness. If it rains, visibility will be even more limited, making it difficult to cover the space around the vehicle. Although this is not the film configuration that I like the most (in terms of clarity and brightness), it is good enough for safe driving, comfortable viewing and does not take time to strain your eyes to identify the vehicle behind.

Anti-scratch & reflective coating

According to specifications from the manufacturer, the Super Hi-Kool Beyond Ceramic insulation film line is coated with a high-quality scratch-resistant layer. The car I experienced was covered with film from the beginning and has traveled 6,400 km. At the time of experience, the film on the side glass looked very glossy and easy to clean. If it weren't for the fact that the glass darkened a bit according to the color of the film, it would have been almost unrecognizable that it was applied. This is largely due to the fact that the film surface is not scratched during the daily process of moving the glass up and down. Of course, in the long run, more time is still needed for specific testing. Regarding the level of reflection, I rate it as good. Although there is still slight ghosting on the front windshield, it is generally insignificant, and this is unavoidable even on original vehicle glass. When compared to expensive metallic films or popular films, Super Hi-Kool Beyond Ceramic shows a clear superiority, because metallic films often have very high reflectivity, causing an unpleasant glossy feeling.

To optimize the above characteristics, instead of using water-based glue like older generations, Hi-Kool has switched to high-quality pressure-sensitive glue (PSA). This is an adhesive layer that has a uniform refractive index with the polyester film, helping to ensure super clear vision, while eliminating the phenomenon of opacity or distortion when driving at night. This adhesive layer acts as a core "backing" sheet that stabilizes the entire physical structure of the film over time. Perhaps because of confidence in the durability of this new glue technology, the distributor in Vietnam has offered an electronic warranty policy for the film line of up to 10 years.
Conclusion

Among the countless heat insulation film options in Vietnam, Super Hi-Kool Beyond Ceramic, in my opinion, is a very economical option in its price range (about 10-12 million VND for a Sedan). If compared in detail, this film line has a significantly more accessible price than the top expensive brands, but the heat blocking effectiveness shown through the numbers is almost equivalent. In particular, the ability to quickly dissipate heat and limit heat accumulation on the windshield surface is a big plus, helping it outperform some other high-end ceramic films on the market.
