Dreame TP20 in hand: Beautiful air purifier, H14 filter used for 5 years and incense smoke test

Hello everyone, lately the weather is erratic and fine dust in the city is also high, so air purifiers are almost an indispensable household item in every house. A few days ago at the Delicate studio, I had the opportunity to actually experience a quite interesting air purifier from the Dreame family, coded TP20. To be honest, I was initially attracted by its appearance, it looked very different from the usual white plastic filter models on the market. After bringing into the test room all the rigorous tests, from turning on the deodorizer in a stuffy studio room to burning a bunch of incense blindly, this machine left me with quite a few impressions worth sharing with you guys.

Neat appearance, bright color scheme and intuitive smile lights

The first thing that made me fall in love with Dreame TP20 as soon as I opened the box was the finishing style. This machine has a circular cylindrical shape, mixed with luxurious contrasting color bands including slightly bronze-brown gold tones, combined with silver gray and black details.

Dreame has applied this color scheme very successfully on their vacuum cleaners or robots, and when put on the air purifier, the overall look of the device exudes high aesthetic quality. The air intakes running around the body are meticulously machined, sturdy and seamless to the touch, without any rickety feeling. When placing this machine in the living room or office, it looks more like a high-end decorative piece of furniture than a simple household appliance.

The top of the machine is a glossy black touch control panel, allowing touch operations to change fan speed, switch to automatic mode or turn on the child lock very quickly. Right at the bottom edge of the dashboard there is a very characteristic smile-shaped curved LED strip. This light strip is directly linked to the internal PM2.5 fine dust sensor to change color in real time.

When the air is fresh at 1 to 35 micrograms per cubic meter, the indicator light is a pleasant green. When the dust level increases to 36 to 53, the light turns yellow to remind the machine to speed up. If the index jumps to 54 to 150, the orange light will run at high power, and if it exceeds 151, it will signal red, warning of severe pollution. I sit from afar and just glance at the blue smile to feel safe and breathe hehe.

3-stage HEPA H14 standard filter core with announced durability of up to 5 years

The second layer is a high-quality HEPA filter, and what surprised me was that the company equipped it with H14 standard instead of the H12 or H13 level commonly found in this segment. The flat area of this H14 membrane is up to 3.84 square meters, allowing to retain almost all suspended PM2.5 fine dust, pollen, bacteria and viruses.

The final layer inside is a high-density activated carbon layer, specialized for adsorbing toxic gases such as formaldehyde, benzene, TVOC compounds, cigarette smoke odors and cooking grease odors.

This is a point I highly appreciate in terms of economics, because usually air purifier users have to spend millions to buy a new core every 6 months to 1 year. By extending the life of the filter core up to 5 years, this machine helps users save a significant amount of maintenance costs throughout the life cycle.

Test of burning smoke in a 18m2 studio room

The part I'm most excited about when experiencing any air purifier is always testing its real-life dust-clearing performance. To test this Dreame TP20, I used a familiar studio room with an area of about 18 square meters with standard high ceilings.

I burned a bundle of about 15 to 20 sticks of incense so that the smoke spread throughout the room, pushing the concentration of PM2.5 fine dust measured by a specialized machine to a maximum of 999 micrograms per cubic meter. When the air in the room was thick with the smell of smoke, I extinguished the incense and turned on the Dreame TP20 running at the strongest fan level to see how long it took for the machine to bring the air quality back to normal.

A microgram per cubic meter level of 999 was achieved to begin the test The actual results impressed me when this machine only took about 44 minutes to clear all that dense smoke, bringing the PM2.5 index from the ceiling level of 999 back to the original safe level of about 12 to 13 micrograms per cubic meter.

After 44 minutes, we have the PM2.5 index return to the original level I continued to let the machine run for another 15 to 30 minutes and the fine dust index in the room dropped deeply to only 8 to 9 micrograms per cubic meter, meaning the air was even cleaner than before I started the test. Having tested many different lines of air purifiers at Tinh Tinh, I rate this machine's ability to quickly treat dust and smoke as one of the devices that provide the fastest and most convincing practical treatment efficiency today. I leave the chart below for you to easily observe.

Actual mold deodorizing ability and capacity for 60m2 room

Regarding technical specifications, Dreame TP20 possesses a PCADR clean air flow index of 500 cubic meters per hour, and an FCADR index for formaldehyde of 310 cubic meters per hour. The machine's maximum air flow is up to 600 cubic meters per hour, equivalent to an instant cleaning speed of about 8.33 cubic meters of clean air per minute, meaning the machine can pump out more than 8,330 liters of fresh air per minute when running at full capacity.

The actual experience of this machine's deodorizing ability at the studio made me feel very satisfied. Delicate's studio room is where the brothers often test out all kinds of robot vacuum cleaners, spreading all kinds of food and slimy sauces on the tile floor, so normally the room is easily filled with a musty and unpleasant smell.

Every time I stepped into the room before, I felt stuffy. But from the day I placed the Dreame TP20 in the corner of the room and ran it regularly, the air in the room was continuously circulated and became completely airy, the odors that had accumulated for a long time were almost completely eliminated. The feeling of entering an odor-free room and seeing a green LED indicator strip brings clear peace of mind.

Sleep mode, Dreamehome app and a few nifty little features

What I appreciate is that when switching the device to Sleep Mode, the fan turns down extremely smoothly. I sat right next to the video camera and could hardly hear any whistling wind or engine sound, perfectly suitable for placing in the family bedroom without fear of disturbing the elderly or children.

Besides operating directly on the touch panel, you can connect the device to your phone via the Dreamehome application. The app has full customizations such as shutdown timer, child lock, viewing air quality charts for 7 days and monitoring the expiration date of the filter core.

I personally have a habit of using the app to turn on the device about 30 to 45 minutes before on the way home. Rooms with wall panels or wooden floors that are closed all day tend to accumulate a secret smell, so turning the machine on first helps you immediately have cool, fresh air waiting for you as soon as you open the door and enter the house.

Overall, Dreame TP20 is a very comprehensive air purifier in both appearance and practical function. It not only has a beautiful appearance like an interior decoration item, but also has a HEPA H14 filter lasting up to 5 years to help save costs, and has proven its extremely convincing dust and odor cleaning performance through practical tests.
