On hand Razer Seiren V3 Pro: USB-C, XLR, 32bit float,... nothing is missing

After a period of using the Razer Seiren V3 Pro in many different situations, from recording videos outside a coffee shop with the DJI Pocket 4 Pro to recording in the studio, I quite like this microphone, it has brought flexibility and versatility in many situations.

The most notable point of Seiren V3 Pro is not in sound quality or appearance, but in the fact that it supports both USB-C and XLR connection standards simultaneously. This makes the mic suitable for both beginners and those who intend to build a professional recording system later.

USB-C: Simple and convenient

If you only need a microphone to record video, livestream, online meetings or record audio on laptops and phones, USB-C is the most accessible choice. For 3.5 ports, you will have to use an adapter for mobile devices, while XLR requires more professionalism.

Easy to use with phone With Seiren V3 Pro, the usage process is quite simple. Just connect USB-C and the microphone can operate without the need for an audio interface or intermediate devices.

Long cables can be used to shoot at long focal lengths such as 3X. During testing with DJI Pocket 4 Pro, the microphone worked stably. The included USB-C cable is also long enough to position the camera at a relatively long distance. The purpose is to use the 3X camera of the DJI Pocket 4 Pro, for a better viewing angle.

The microphone has a built-in gain adjustment knob, you can see the audio level section to adjust the volume accordingly, quite convenient when used with mobile devices.

Integrated DSP reduces processing steps

Seiren V3 Pro has a built-in DSP (Digital Signal Processor), which is a digital signal processor that works right inside the microphone.

This means that the audio signal coming out of USB-C is already a "beautiful" signal, you will no longer need to intervene or edit in post-production.

When used in the studio

Bringing Seiren V3 Pro to your computer system to livestream or record, the microphone still has some additional advantages, that is, it can connect to the Razer Synapse application, to customize the mic's features.

Used with Razer Synapse 4 can record 32bit at 96kHz Through Razer Synapse software, the microphone supports 32-bit Float recording. This is a format with a larger dynamic range, making post-production more convenient, editing tools have space for audio processing and especially AI. Give AI a large 32-bit file to process, from a good mic, and the results will certainly be better than a thin file with a poorer quality mic. The microphone is also capable of withstanding sound pressure levels of up to 125dB SPL when using USB C (this level is even higher, reaching 150dB SPL when using XLR), gamers can safely call out, speak loudly, or even scream without worrying about breaking the sound.

In addition, Razer Synapse 4 can also automatically adjust, by recording 10 seconds of your normal voice.

Then record another 10 seconds of environmental sound, to cancel noise.

Environment and usage options.

Finally, the machine gives me a series of parameters suitable for the situation I am using. The application also supports saving profiles, for example, at home, set up 1 profile, when you bring the mic to the company, set up another profile, so wherever you use it, you have a separate profile for that place.

There is also a mute button right on the mic body and an RGB lighting system that can be synchronized with Razer Chroma if you want to be consistent with the Razer ecosystem.

Switch to XLR when an upgrade is needed

Another advantage is that users do not need to replace the microphone if they later want to switch to an XLR system. Those of you who want to have more control and fine-tune to your liking can change to XLR right away.

Capsule size is very large. Seiren V3 Pro can still be used with the audio interface as a regular dynamic microphone. According to specifications, the microphone has a 30 mm diameter capsule, quite large compared to many popular dynamic microphones today.

The diaphragm is large, it is a bit similar to a camera, with a large sensor, receiving more light, higher resolution, and therefore higher image quality. The same goes for the Microphone, the Capsule is large in size, and 30mm is a much larger form than a normal one, it will also bring many benefits such as:

However, diaphragm size is not the only factor that determines sound quality, but also depends on the overall design of the microphone.

During testing with the Zoom H6 Essential, I found that the Seiren V3 Pro needed a relatively high gain level. To reach the desired signal level, I have to use Cloudlifter to increase it by about 25 dB to be able to pull it.

So when using XLR on the Razer Seiren V3 Pro, you should be careful to choose the right audio interface, and have a good preamp, to avoid being unable to pull it off, causing the signal to be weak, leading to a lot of noise.

Design

Razer Seiren V3 Pro has a design that can easily satisfy many different audiences, like me personally, who needs simplicity, streamlining, not too many details, not too many confusing things, it meets that.

If you need something more special, you can customize the RGB LED ring, connect to the Razer Chroma ecosystem, and synchronize the entire lighting system in your room.

The microphone body uses many curves instead of angled cuts, the diameter is uniform across the entire microphone body.

Along with that is the arm part with an extremely simple design, 1 side, 1 screw, can be used for both the stand and the mic arm, easily, using standard 5/8-27 screws. When mounted on the arm it can be used as shown in the photo.

The mic's screw is not simply tightened, but has a tightening and rotating mechanism inside, you can tighten it, but still rotate the mic, convenient for adjusting the speaking direction.

The included pop filter is removable. When removed, the steel mesh design inside is also quite beautiful.

Razer Seiren V3 Pro can be used by anyone, it is extremely diverse, thanks to the USB-C port that has unlocked many limitations that professional mics using XLR have.
