China: Teenager throws broken phone because mother doesn't buy expensive phone

(Dan Tri) - A video recording the moment a teenager broke a smartphone right in front of his mother, after she refused to buy an expensive phone, has angered many netizens.

Surveillance cameras inside a phone store in Henan province (China) captured the moment a teenager, after arguing with his mother, suddenly threw the phone he was holding on the ground before leaving.

The mother was very surprised by her child's actions. After her son left, she bent down to pick up the broken phone and quietly left the store.

After the video was posted and spread quickly on social networks, many reports said that the mother bought her son a cheap phone, not the expensive product model that his son loved, so the teenager took the newly purchased phone and threw it hard on the ground.

However, the owner of the phone store, who also shared the video online, spoke up to explain the incident.

Accordingly, mother and daughter brought the broken phone to the store to have it repaired. However, the phone was damaged so badly that the repair cost was equivalent to buying a new phone.

The mother then planned to buy her son a new phone to replace it. She suggested that her son choose a mid-range phone at a moderate price, but the teenager did not agree and wanted to buy a more expensive phone that he had loved for a long time.

The mother said that the family's current economic conditions are not enough to buy an expensive phone, so she tried to convince her son to choose a mid-range phone, which she said is still as beautiful as an expensive product.

However, the son became angry and threw his broken phone to the ground.

The owner of the store said there was no such thing as this teenager throwing the newly purchased phone to the ground as rumored online. This person added that the mother and son then drove each other by electric motorbike to leave without seeing the mother blame or scold her son.

The video made many netizens angry. Many people believe that this teenager's actions stem from the indulgence of his mother and family.

"A child will become ungrateful when their parents pamper them too much. They will see everything their parents do as a duty. When their demands cannot be met, the child will become "exploded" and act like the teenager in this clip," a Weibo social network user commented.

The store's owner later deleted the video online because of concerns about inaccurate information affecting the teenager in the incident.
