Automation 'is facing great opportunity'

At the 8th International Science Conference and Exhibition on Control and Automation (VCCA 2026), opening on the morning of July 16 at Quy Nhon University, Dr. Nguyen Quan, Chairman of the Vietnam Automation Association, said that technology fields, especially automation technology, are facing great opportunities as Vietnam enters the era of digital technology.

"Those working in the field of automation need to clearly see their role and responsibility in the country's scientific and technological development. Automation technology is present in all industries, fields, manufacturing plants, public services, and technology for administrative management, all applying control and automation technology, especially with artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT)," he said.

He also evaluated Gia Lai as a place where great domestic and international scientists converge, combining new administrative boundaries to "bring the plateau back to the sea", opening up potential opportunities for science and technology to develop.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, said the province is entering a new stage of development. Events like VCCA 2026 are an opportunity to strengthen connections, learn from experience, expand cooperation and access new scientific and technological achievements to serve local development.

Also at the event, Prof. Dr. Le Quan, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, assessed VCCA 2026 as important in promoting discussion on technology trends, applications, research and training of high-quality human resources.

According to the Deputy Minister, this is an important forum that contributes to the implementation of resolutions on the development of science, technology, innovation and education and training. The activities of the Vietnam Automation Association and organizations in the field of engineering and technology will create many practical results, contributing to the development of the education system, especially higher education and vocational education, improving the quality of STEM human resource training to meet the requirements of socio-economic development.

At VCCA 2026, in addition to scientific conferences, the event also takes place the AT Expo automation technology exhibition, gathering many booths to introduce new solutions on control, automation, robotics, AI, IoT and many modern industrial equipment. The organizing committee expects the exhibition to become a bridge between businesses and universities, research institutes and international partners, contributing to promoting research cooperation, technology transfer and market development.
