Why did I choose Z Fold for business?

The recent trip to Taiwan to attend Computex was truly a memorable experience, not only because of the scale of the event but also the way I chose to work with it. Instead of carrying a traditional bar phone, I decided to stick completely with the Galaxy Z Fold7 throughout the journey. After a year of use, I see that this machine is no longer a luxury piece of technology to show off, but it has truly become a serious working tool, effectively supporting work while abroad.
Savior for script reading work
One of the reasons why I always prioritize Fold7 when traveling on business is the spacious display space, it is a perfect replacement for a tablet. Last year, I took the Fold6 to CES and it felt fine, but this time around, the viewing and reading experience is even more comfortable.

When working in my home studio, I always need an iPad or tablet to read the script on Google Sheets. This tool, if viewed on the vertical screen of a regular phone, will be extremely cramped, the eyes having to adjust continuously is very tiring. With the Fold7's nearly 8-inch screen, I just need to open the device and hold it neatly in the palm of my hand to be able to easily monitor the entire content of the script or complex data files. It helps me reduce the bulkiness of the device in my backpack, while still being able to handle work right on the train or at a coffee shop.

The difference when finding your way abroad
When entering new lands like Taiwan, traveling by public transportation is a must. For me, someone who is not familiar with the intricate subway system, the first few days will be very confusing. Google Maps on the Fold7's big screen is a real lifesaver.

This application on the foldable device is displayed in a very smart way: the left part is text instructions, clearly indicating the number of meters, station names, where to change lanes, and the right part is a large map. Such a clear separation of information helps me walk and look at the phone confidently, without having to fumble back and forth between tabs like when using a bar phone.

Take a look at the map in Universal Studio to hang out haha
Experience convenient filming and photography
Talking about taking photos and recording clips, the large and clear image viewing space helps me adjust the camera angle more accurately. But its biggest advantage is the flexible folding and opening mechanism, allowing the machine to stand on its own at many angles without the need for bulky tripod accessories. I often fold the camera at a moderate angle and place it on a wall or table to record a timelapse on the streets of Taipei or record my own vlog. When it's time to eat, I put the device in "tent" mode on the table to enjoy food and watch entertainment videos while still holding chopsticks with both hands free.

However, I still have to be frank that the camera system on Fold7 cannot completely replace the S26 Ultra line. During keynote events, where people sit far from the stage, I still prioritize using the S26 Ultra because of its flexible zoom ability. The Fold7's cam cluster is rounded, the colors are realistic, not too bright, very convenient for quick post-production editing, but if you need a specialized device to zoom far away from all objects, the Fold line still has a certain gap with the Ultra line.

Hinge durability and battery stability
After a year of hard work, the Fold7's hinge has given me great peace of mind. If previous generations like Fold4 often became loose after a year and easily opened when placed on a table, then on Fold7, the hinge retains its grip extremely well. When I open the camera at any angle to film or take photos, it still stands still in that position without ever slipping.

Difficult problem for the successor version
After this trip, I feel that the device has reached maturity in both hardware and software design. It has solved most of the core disadvantages of folding machines from durability, thinness to practicality.

It is this very good perfection that accidentally creates a huge innovation pressure for Samsung when developing the Galaxy Z Fold8 generation. When a product is almost perfect in its segment, finding the next revolutionary breakthrough to convince users to upgrade will certainly not be an easy problem. For me, Fold7 is not just a phone, but has become an indispensable companion on business trips away from home.
