Vietnam aims to have 10 international AI brands by 2030

The National Strategy on Artificial Intelligence (AI) to 2030, vision to 2045 was approved by the Prime Minister on August 28, stating the viewpoint of strongly shifting from the approach of bringing AI into products, services, processes and systems to taking AI as a core competency from problem identification, design, organization and operation.

AI has become an important driving force to redesign management, production, business and service delivery methods; promote increased productivity, improve national governance efficiency, business competitiveness, innovate and form new products, services and business models.

The strategy aims to develop high-quality AI human resources, AI talents, and elite AI human resources; training and fostering AI skills for the workforce; universalize AI skills for the entire society. Vietnam will attract and utilize leading AI experts, including overseas Vietnamese experts and foreigners.

In 2030, Vietnam strives to be one of the centers capable of research, development, application and co-creation of AI value in the ASEAN and Asia region; Build strong national capacity in AI research, development, mastery, deployment and governance.

AI becomes a core competency, deeply and comprehensively integrated into national governance, public service provision, production, business, scientific research, innovation and social life; making an important contribution to improving productivity, quality, efficiency, national competitiveness and creating new products, services and growth models.

In the next four years, Vietnam strives to join the top three countries in Southeast Asia in AI research and development; 100% of online public services are integrated and supported by AI. 100% of administrative procedure documents are processed by AI.

Vietnam will develop 5 national shared AI platforms; forming 10 Vietnamese AI brands with competitiveness in regional and international markets; Develop at least 8 Vietnamese AI models.

By 2045, Vietnam will be in the group of 10 leading countries in Asia in terms of research, development, AI mastery and national AI transformation capacity. AI has become an important strategic driving force, contributing to improving productivity, innovation capacity and national value creation capacity; helping Vietnam overcome the middle-income trap and become a developed country with high income.

Vietnam forms an AI business ecosystem, AI-native businesses with regional and international competitiveness and becomes an important regional and global center for research, development, production, and supply of AI products, services and solutions.

To realize the above goal, the strategy outlines 9 pillars, first of all is developing high-quality AI human resources, universalizing AI skills for the entire society, ensuring a workforce capable of researching, developing, deploying and using AI.

Data, data infrastructure and AI models will be developed as the foundation for AI research, development, training, testing, evaluation and deployment. The computing and cloud computing systems are also developed with AI and AI data centers.

Vietnam will promote research, development and mastery of AI technology, forming AI Make in Vietnam products and services and core technology capacity to serve the country's major problems.

AI is also used in national governance to build a modern, proactive, and responsive governance in the AI ​​era. Comprehensive AI transformation in industries and fields will be promoted, focusing on a number of key industries that have a great impact on productivity, growth, national competitiveness, social security and people's lives.

Small and medium-sized enterprises, business households, and cooperatives can access, deploy, maintain and use AI products, services, solutions and measure actual effectiveness.

At the same time, Vietnam's AI ecosystem is developed to have the capacity to research, develop, commercialize and export products, services and solutions. AI governance is guaranteed to be safe, reliable, and responsible.
