Facebook and Messenger websites have widespread problems
At around 2:30 p.m., Mr. Nguyen Hung (Hanoi) opened Facebook on his computer to check his work messages but could not access it and continuously received the message "Your account is currently unavailable due to a problem on the website", making him initially think the account was locked or hacked.
"I tried logging in many times, but it always showed errors for both Facebook and Messenger. When I opened the app on my phone, I realized the account still worked normally," Mr. Hung said.
Not only Mr. Hung, many users in Vietnam and around the world also reported the same situation. On the Downdetector incident tracking page, the number of Facebook error reports increased dramatically around 2:39 p.m. (Vietnam time), with more than 3,000 in just a few minutes. According to this platform's statistics, 61% of complaints related to not being able to access the Facebook website, the rest encountered login and application errors.
On social networks such as Twitter and Threads, many users around the world said that when accessing the Facebook website, the account displayed the message "temporarily unavailable", with the reason "The link you clicked may be broken or this page may have been removed".
Meanwhile, the Facebook and Messenger applications on the phone still work normally. Users can still view message boards and send and receive messages. Other Meta products such as Instagram and Threads did not record significant problems.
Meta has not yet made an official announcement about the cause or scope of the incident.
This is not the first time Meta's platforms have encountered problems this year. In June, Facebook, Messenger and Instagram also went offline for about an hour, leaving many users unable to log in, load feeds or send messages. According to Downdetector, tens of thousands of error reports were recorded globally before services were gradually restored. Meta later confirmed that it had fixed the problem but did not disclose the specific cause.
