Factors that help Sony Bravia 9 II be 'the best RGB TV in the world'

At the Value Electronics TV Shootout awards ceremony in Scarsdale, New York, USA in July, Bravia 9 II was voted by film and technology experts to top the "King of RGB LED TV 2026" category (best RGB TV in the world), marking the 8th consecutive year Sony has won this title.

The organizers recognized the device leading 12/12 criteria in the RGB LED group, consistent in image quality, from delicate details to complex movements. With SDR (standard dynamic range), the TV achieved the highest score in all 6 criteria: dark area detail; gray scale reproduction; color saturation in dark areas; color and skin tone accuracy; sharpness and preservation of image details; motion processing ability.

In terms of HDR (high dynamic range), the Bravia 9 II also scored highest in shadow detail; HDR mapping, preserving highlights; color saturation in dark areas; wide color range at high brightness; color stratification and gradients; motion processing ability.

According to a Sony representative, Bravia 9 II image quality is not only expressed in brightness or color but is maintained uniformly throughout the entire viewing experience. Specifically in dark scenes, the TV clearly reproduces subtle details and colors, maintaining image depth even in areas near black level; while colors and skin tones are still expressed accurately and naturally.

With HDR content, the ability to reproduce colors at high brightness and the ability to process motion remains clear and seamless, helping the frame to have a fast tempo like action movies or sports competitions.

"We want to reproduce content as close as possible to the filmmaker's creative intentions, instead of simply pursuing brilliant images or high brightness. From color, contrast to movement in the frame, Bravia 9 II aims for a balance between accuracy, naturalness and emotion, like a widescreen experience for users at home," the representative said.

According to the company's announcement, one of the device's highlights is True RGB - a technology developed by Sony to enhance color and brightness control. Since 2004, the company commercialized RGB LED TV with the Qualia 005 model, laying the foundation for research and "conception" of RGB displays.

True RGB's difference lies in the ability to precisely control each RGB component on each LED in the backlight system, performed via RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro. Instead of just enhancing brilliance, this technology allows individual and precise control of color and brightness, aiming for images with high contrast, color, and detail.

Sony is also present throughout the content creation chain, from cinema cameras, equipment, professional monitors in production and post-production to home TV. This connection helps the company deeply understand how light, color, and each shade are created and how the filmmaker wants to convey it to the audience.

In addition, Sony's Bravia TV and Bravia Theater ecosystems combine images and sound to bring a cinematic experience to the home entertainment space. Accordingly, Bravia TV is the center of the image, while Bravia Theater reproduces vivid sound, capable of synchronous coordination between devices.
