Vietnamobile announces new strategic direction

On June 18, Dr. Nguyen Hien Phuong, General Director of Vietnamobile, said that the business will expand its scope of operations through the development of platforms, products and technology solutions for customers, businesses and the community.

According to the business, the new direction is built on the telecommunications infrastructure that has been developed over the past 17 years, while also targeting the market's increasing demand for digital services and solutions.
In the coming period, Vietnamobile said it will focus on three main priority groups including strengthening connectivity capacity and digital infrastructure, developing technology platforms with practical applications for SME businesses and expanding cooperation with international technology partners.
Vietnamobile's move comes in the context that the telecommunications industry is facing growth pressure as traditional services such as voice and text messages are gradually saturated.
The strong growth of OTT platforms causes many carriers to seek new revenue sources from digital services, cloud computing, data centers, AI and technology solutions for businesses.
The trend of converting from the Telco (telecommunications network operator) to Techco (digital technology enterprise) model is being pursued by many domestic and foreign telecommunications enterprises to expand growth potential in the new period.
Experts say the SME segment is one of the markets with a lot of potential. This group of businesses accounts for the majority of the total number of businesses in Vietnam but still faces many difficulties in the digital transformation process due to limited financial resources, human resources and technological infrastructure.
Focusing on developing digital solutions for SMEs is expected to help Vietnamobile create its own direction in the context of the mobile telecommunications market being highly competitive and not having much room for growth in the individual customer segment.
